I am in the process of configuring our small business phones.  I am currently testing a Polycom VVX 300 to see if it will meet our needs.  We would like to have 3 phone numbers be used across 6 or 7 polycom phones. I am currently testing the phone out with Microsoft Cloud PBX and logging in with my Lync account.

The challenge I am seeing is that you can only log into one lync account per phone. Is there a different way I could architect our phone system to allow the pool of phone numbers to be shared across multiple phones?  It doesn't make much sense for us to have a dedicated phone number for each phone.

Hello TechUser,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The community's Skype for Business FAQ contains this post here:

Jan 25, 2016 Question:How many Lines can I register using Polycom phones with Lync Server / Skype for Business server ?

Resolution: You can register only one line when Lync is set as the base profile on the phone.

Thank you for the response.  I am aware you can only log into one lync account, I did read the FAQ. My question is if there are other ways to implement polycoms in my company to take advantage of the design I would like.

Hi TechUser,

Unfortunately, you have limited options right now as Shared Line Appearance and Response Group are two features not available in Skype for Business Online - Cloud PBX (it might be in the future).

Only solution i see right now is to leverage the Team Call feature. Create 6 accounts and assign your three numbers to three of them (they will be the master account for the team) and make other users a member of these teams.

You'll need the Lync client to configure the groups though, but it should work.

Good luck!

Stephen
