Hello @Jackc ,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
I am unaware of the outcome or if this was ever followed up or if the opportunity was big enough to justify the change but since UC Software 5.8.0 we can add Icons for the Lines.
Simply add your own icon symbolizing to the user not to use the specific line may be a workaround for your organisation.

I would highly agree. I've spent hours now, before finding this thread, as to how to hide the Line 1 Skype icon from being present on the screen. Line 2, Avaya, is the PSTN dial out. There HAS to be a config setting to hide Line 1, 2 or 3 from the screen. Feature Request Please.
