Hello.  I would like to connect a Real Presence Trio to my Office 365 environment and I'm wondering what Office 365 licenses I need.  Cloud PBX?  Skype for Business Online?  S4B PSTN Conferencing?  S4B PSTN Domestic Calling?  Exchange mailbox?  I would like to be able to "invite" the device to meetings and make phone calls from it.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks.

I just figured this out!

Least expensive:

Create a 'Room Resource'

Give the Room Resource users the following licenses:

Skype for Business Online (Plan 2) - $5.50/mo

Skype for Business Cloud PBX - $8.00/mo

Skype for Business PSTN Domestic Calling - $12.00/mo

You would only want to give a Room Resource a conference license if that room resource was expected to ‘initiate’ a meeting, which in our case is never.  Our users initiate meetings, and add the Room Resource to the meeting.  This way when you walk into the room, the device has the Join Meeting button ready to go.

Working great for us so far!

Thanks so much for describing this approach as it is the same setup we have. We rarely use the calling feature so is it possible to just go with Skype for Business PSTN Consumption where I pay by the minute instead of the Skype for Business PSTN Domestic Calling Plan?

Whenever I try to assign the SfB PSTN Consumption license I get an error that states: "To assign a license that contains Skype for Business PSTN Consumption, you must also assign one of the following service plans: Skype for Business PSTN Conferencing."

Cloud PBX is not setup that way.  Consumption is for other things like 800 numers and service type accounts.  For outbound calling there are only two options, Domestic PSTN or International PSTN.

That's too bad since we will rarely have to use it but I appreciate the clarification.

Hello all,

Please also ensure the Polycom phone ordered is of the Lync SKU aka -018 or the Skype for Business SKU aka -019

If not and you upgraded an existing VVX, SPIP or SSIP Phone you need to check the following:

Please be aware of the following License requirement:

The use of Polycom UC Software versions 4.1.X (“Software”) requires the purchase of a separate Software license for every device that will use the Software in a Lync environment. You may not install, access, or use the Software in a Lync environment on more devices than are listed on your license until additional licenses have been purchased and authorized by Polycom. These licenses should be purchased from the same company from which you purchased the devices. You may operate devices against a Lync server for trial purposes for up to 30 days without purchasing a license. Use of the Software is subject to the terms and conditions of the End User License Agreement.

Polycom reserves the right to audit your deployment to verify that you have sufficient licenses to match the number of devices being used.
