Hello Garry,

Polycom does not deal with End Customers directly.

 

I tried to cut out the middle man and help you with the reseller and that is what I provided to you.

 

They can be contacted or the organisation who you purchased the phone from will have to do that for you.

Can we simply start over again and check what kind of LYNC / Skype / O365 setup you have ?

 

Can you reply with your details via community mail and attach a full log and not snippets?

 

Please log:

 

  • Overall log level in Debug
  • ABS in Debug
  • PGUI in Debug
  • EC in Debug
  • DNS in debug

Reboot the phone and then search for a contact.

 

We may request a test account to replicate.

That IP is used throughout the Skype signin process via that port. Skype is used throughout the business without issues. I'm sure Microsoft will be as useful as a chocolate teapot. Now back to the problem. I CURL'd using a local Linux box, more than likely a very similar build on the 8800. So how do I apply root CA's to this device?

problem with the certificate (it might be expired, or the name might
not match the domain name in the URL).
If you'd like to turn off curl's verification of the certificate, use

We finally got the contacts search working, it wasn't certificate related.

 

It's a very subtle problem.

 

For some reason the Polycom uses the external web services address URL provided by our Skype server, although from "status" page is knows the internal one too. This external URL was originally pointing to the internal side (internal IP) of the Skype Front End server (we manage external and internal DNS indepedantly), which is the case would hit the "internal" site in IIS. After reviewing the Skype FB Protocol Workloads PDF....

...it become obviously that the "external Web Services FQDN " should actually resolve to our external IP . Which in effect is the "external" IIS site on the Front End server. Effectively going out our firewall, to then come back in!

 

Polycom - don't understand the logic of selecting the external URL? How is this determined?

Hello garrymlewis,

we utilize several mechanisms to determine the exchange URL and if the LYNC / Skype for Business environment and all DNS records are setup according to Microsoft the RealPresence Trio or the VVX phones will simply work and are qualified and tested by our Partner Microsoft.

 

In case of any miss configuration issues like yours occur and either Microsoft Support or your Polycom reseller needs to be consulted to troubleshoot this.

 

I had asked you to do this at the beginning as this involves looking at logs and wireshark traces but so far you have not done this.

 

Within this free community other partners or enthusiasts or Polycom Employees in their spare time try and help users but it is not a replacement for our official support infrastructure just like any other professional organisations hosting forums.
