Unable to sign in to skype for business from polycom trio 8500

Hi Friends,

I have a new polycom trio 8500 phone and i am trying to link it with skype for business. We have Microsoft lync server 2013 in our network. This is first 8500 phone we are handling and i am not sure on how to configure it. Polycom cx600 phones were the only ones deployed ever in the organization.

 

When i enter the PIN and the password or the AD credentials, it says it cannot sign in. 

I browsed through the web interface of the phone and found something called the provisioning server and other things which am not aware of. If anyone could guide me through the steps of configuring this phone, I would be very thankful.

 

It gets the IP from the DHCP and other details as in the below diagram. But, am not sure if i need to supply more details.

Thank you very much for the response. I checked the links you provided. I made few changes, but still no success.

This is the log i got from the phone. Please take a look and i would be very happy if you could let me know where exactly am going wrong. I can see many FAILED/UNAVALIABLE messages, but not sure where i am doing the mistake.

I see this:

It could be a firewall issue or something similar. In the past your setup => here <= had issues but you never followed this up.

 

SCANSOURCE COMMUNICATIONS sold this unit back in 22/01/2018 so it is in warranty so simply open a ticket with them.

Hi Steffen,

 

Old case: I made some changes to the DHCP server and the issue got fixed. 

 

But, in this case, the IP you were indicating, 

13.64.119.53

I dont even know what that is.. and why this phone is trying to connect to that IP. Its not part of our network. 

 

I would try opening a ticket with SCANSOURCE COMMUNICATIONS and see how it goes.

Again there is a problem in your setup:

If the whole setup is not correct the unit will not work. You simply have to ensure you follow Microsofts specifications or get someone in who does this for you and everything will work.

Hi Steffen,

 

Thank you for the response. I think i kind of fixed my problem. I am able to login to the phone and connect it with Skype for business.

 

I have qestion here though.  I am using the sign-in address, domain , user and password to login to this phone.  

 

Is it the only way i can login to it. Can't i simply using a PIN and PASSWORD procedure to connect it to skype for business as i do with the cx500 or cx600 phones. 

 

Also another problem, its not connecting with my exchange server. I followed other posts for this issue, and tried the procedure of keeping the DOMAIN blank to start the auto discovery, but no success. 

 

I hope you understand what i was trying to explain in my question. Please let me know if i need to elaborate it.

Hello @Vijaya ,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

There is something fundamental wrong in your setup as a Trio or VVX phone works the very same way a CX phone works.

 

If we do not get the right Option 43 and 120 we cannot sign into Skype for Business.

 

The above suggested FAQ can give you some pointers on what you can try using the logs to verify but we cannot troubleshoot your installation.

 

Please engage Polycom professional services and/or Microsoft for this as this should not be an issue for a Global brand as yours.
