Hi there, is there does the VVX 500 /w Lync provide any method for voice mail security? for example, since you can't lock the screen on the phone, anyone can walk up and hit the voicemail button to listen to voicemail. Is there anyway to force pin authentication prompt when the vioce mail button on vvx is selected?

We are using vvx 500 with Lync and Exchange UM.

THanks

Hello kdsych,

I have moved your post as you posted this in a completely unrelated section.

In addition could you kindly provide some feedback on this post => here <= ?

Also did you contact your Polycom reseller as outlined => here <= and did you purchase the relevant LYNC licenses for all your units using UC Software with LYNC or Skype for Business as reminded => here <=?

In regards to your new question the VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Apr 23, 2013 Question: How can I lock my phone?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Current UC Software versions do not yet support the LYNC / Skype for business policy to lock the phone automatically after time.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

yes, all phones have the UC license.

When will polycom add the featuer to lock phone? It would be benificial if the phone locked when the computer locked when using BTOE. The lack of security with the vvx isnt acceptable, we need a way to secure voicemail. If that is not possible, is there a option to remove the voicemail soft button on the vvx phone?

Hello kdsych,

Due no NDA in place I cannot discuss any future plans or software releases within this Polycom community.

Could you kindly provide me with some details via the Polycom community mail so I can forward these to the Polycom sales team in your region?

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Can you tell me if it's possible to hide the voicemail soft button on the Lcd display?
HP Recommended

Hello kdsych,

to my knowledge there is currently no way to hide the voicemail icon.

I already provided you with the FAQ post to enable Phone Locking so that should get your users around this.

If you reply via community mail with your contact details a Polycom Sales Engineer can work with you on a NDA.

They may ask you to provide proof of the relevant per device LYNC licenses.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

the option to use the lock soft key is not a solution.

  • there is no time out, so users have to remember to go and hit the lock button
  • the user needs the advanced admin password to the phone to set the user password. We do not provide or want to provide the advanced password for the phones.
  • You have to unlock the phone to answer a call.

I find it hard to believe we can't disalbe the Mail icon on the phone so accessing voicemail is not even available. Can you please provide my reseller information so I can open a support ticket to further research this. Mac address is 0004f2d4a1be. Thanks

Hello kdsych,

again I can only remind you to ensure you always check the community FAQ as the quoted FAQ post clearly states:

phoneLock.idleTimeout 0 to 65535 0 The amount of time (in seconds) the phone can be idle before it automatically locks. If 0, automatic locking is disabled.

The above will enable you to automatically lock the Phone.

In addition checking the Admin Guide would reveal that you can use the following:

  • phoneLock.Allow.AnswerOnLock

If 1, the phone answers any incoming call without asking to UNLOCK. If 0, the phone asks to UNLOCK before answering.

You may assume that you should be able to remove the Voice Mail Icon but in my role as a Senior Product Support Specialist Team Leader Voice in EMEA Escalations to my knowledge this is not possible.

The reseller SCANSOURCE COMMUNICATIONS would be the same as for the phone => here <= and this time the SKU is a LYNC SKU which allows you to utilize LYNC  / Skype for business.

The User password is set to 123 and the user can change this without knowing the Admin Password.

All three of your questions have been answered and I may repeat myself but if you would provide me with your complete contact details for the 3rd time asking I can set you up with a Polycom Sales Engineer who can work with you on future roadmap so we can bring this discussion to a closure.

Please ensure you have the details of the Polycom per device lync license at hand for the phone(s) not being LYNC / Skype for business SKU.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.
