LAS VEGAS – It’s always been a destination for people with dreams. Whether it’s the overwhelming pull to strike it rich, open a new business or simply bask in the sun during a great Vegas2.jpgvacation, Las Vegas – Sin City – has always served as a (very hot) oasis of opportunity in midst of our country’s largest desert terrain.

 

That’s been the case every year since Las Vegas became an attractive (and did I mention hot) destination.

 

InfoComm remains the industry’s most successful and most highly trafficked show in the U.S. And while the show returns to Las Vegas every other year, this year was significantly different both for the show itself, and for Polycom.

 

InfoComm 2016 represented just the second in-person opportunity for customers and media to feast their eyes on the prized technology innovation we formally announced last October. We opened a new way to experience RealPresence Centro by providing a 90 second virtual reality demonstration right at the booth. Ninety seconds is all it takes to experience a real-life, highly intense meeting around Centro that fully illustrates how this technology pulls decision makers together and the importance of clear, concise and easy to use communication in hectic moments. 

 

We announced new features to RealConnect – an incredibly smart solution that brings users of any video platform together under one room. And we shared a smile with our friends at Operation Smile, but setting up a photo booth that allowed conference-goers an opportunity to take a picture, share a tweet and have a donation made on their behalf.

 

JohnA RADIO.jpgWhat did that mean?  It meant 291 scheduled and unscheduled booth tours in three days. It meant 11 media briefings – including two on radio – and one analyst briefing.  It means more than 400 attendees having their picture taken and then tweeting out for a cause we deeply care about. It meant 9 – count ‘em 9! – speaking engagements, illustrating the art of the possible from our deepest and strongest thought leaders.

 

It meant a show that surpassed many before it and that a new bar has been set!

 

Some attending media had already seen the new solutions but were craving more opportunities to play with the technology – can you blame them? Reporters including David Maldow (Let’s Do Video), Jonathan Blackwood (Corporate Tech Decisions) and Corey Moss (rAVe Magazine) all attended or watched our event unfold last October. And many have seen the technology since. But all returned to talk to us because of what we’ve innovated. And we’re not stopping!

 

We learned a lot from InfoComm16.  The products sell themselves but we’ve found additional ways to attract attention. I also learned that Roulette is a fun, addicting game to which a fool and his money are soon par…

 

Anyway, next year, we head to Orlando. Just wait to see what we have in store next!
