Fail Over Solution

Good Evening


I currently have a Polycom HDX7000 series Video Conference unit that is connected to a fibre link with Fixed IP Address.   There have been situations whereby the unit drops the connection intermittently. 


I would like to know is it possible to have both Fibre and a  3G router connected simultaneously and can I choose which type of connection I would like to use as  Fail Over Solution?

Hello @Farhadj,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

To your actual question is the fixed IP added anywhere on the HDX as swapping the network provider / connection / IP address usually requires a reboot of the unit.

What information is required from me in order to setup a fail over system?


We currently have a Polycom HDX7000 unit.

Firmware version:   Release 3.1.9 - 50041


THe Polycom unit is on a fibre link behind a firewall.
