Hi Polycom Peeps,

I have been gettings requests lately for better support of standalone SIP dialling with the Polycom Group series with our cloud video service.

From my understanding, to make standalone video calls you need to use H323 as the Group series requires a SIP proxy to operate properly. It certainly seems that there's no way to turn off the registration requirement as the registar options are 'Auto' or 'Specify'.

Is anyone aware if it is possible to make SIP calls without registering to a proxy?

Thanks in advance.

Hello @Daniel36,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

In addition you may be mixing H.323 and SIP up.

Specific features are working as designed and in order to change these, or add additional support to your yet unknown cloud video service, a feature request is required.

Please provide more details and the basic minimum information about your device.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Hi Steffen,

Thanks for your timely reply.

Software version:

Release - 6.1.3-390050

Protocol is definitely SIP that we are testing with.

Service provider is Videxio, they offer SIP service subscriptions for endpoints, however we wish to use a standalone device.

H323 works with the dial pattern IPAddress##ConfID that is provided by the service provider.

Thanks,

Dan

Hello @Daniel36,

Checking your credentials it seems you are working for this provider. I briefly tested a GroupSeries not registered to anything and simply dialing an IP address and I can establish a SIP call.

I am not fully sure what your issue is but if you send my a community email with more details about yourself and your organisation I point you in the right direction within Polycom.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.
