HDX 7000 Multipoint capability on LYNC

Hi Polycom Community,

I recently done a product demonstration of HDX 7000 registering on LYNC, expectation of client is that it can support 4 party multipoint vidcon, we sometimes accomplish 4 party vidcon IF LYNC client users WILL call to the HDX, if HDX will initiate the 4 party multipoint call to LYNC clients it dos not go through, it's only peer-to-peer .

Does the HDX support Multipoint call on LYNC environment  with LYNC clients as participant in the call?

will recommend HDX on such scenarios?

best regards,

Kim

Re: HDX 7000 Multipoint capability on LYNC

Correct, this is not supported.

When the RTV Options key is present and a Lync call utilizing RTV is in progress then the internal MCU is disabled for the duration of that call.  Hence if the HDX is in a Lync call it cannot host multi-party calls itself.  As soon as RTV is not active the internal MCU is reactivated.  The HDX does not have the resources to utilize both processor-intensive features at the same time.

In the event that the internal MCU is in-use and a Lync client calls the HDX then the call will be accepted but the video will be negotiated at H.263/CIF (only available with the Windows Lync client).  But this scenario is not supported so the experience may vary.

To host multi-party calls with both Lync and HDX clients either the Lync AVMCU or a third-party MCU (e.g. RMX) is required.

IIRC, the HDX MCU does NOT support Lync clients.  You'll need an RMX for that with a RTV/CCCP license.

I concur.  The HDX MCU is not capable of sending multiple RTV streams.  You would definitley need an RMX in this case.

Thanks!

Re: HDX 7000 Multipoint capability on LYNC

Thanks Guys! This is much more clearer, I got confused with the following paragraph

"Multipoint calls initiated by an HDX system are hosted on the HDX
system’s internal MCU and use RTV video. If a non-RTV HDX system
joins the call, the entire call will be conducted on CIF instead of RTV."

this made me wonder if HDX can support multipoint videocon on LYNC.

best regards,

Kim

Where did that statement come from?  It is not accurate.

Re: HDX 7000 Multipoint capability on LYNC

it's actually on page 31 of the Polycom UC deployment guide for Microsoft environments.

Thanks for pointing that out.  That document will be updated later this year so I'll get that statement removed or reworded to be accurate in the next revision.

ROFL, but it does prove one does learn something on Polycom UC Integration courses.
