Hi All,

I have an ISDN BRI unit connectd to my HDX7000 and I am moving the unit 60 meters away from the current location, thus meaning I have to extend the length of all 4 Cat5 cables currently being used for the ISDN lines terminated to my PABX.

I have extended the Cat5 cables to be 60 meters each and also terminated them exactly as they were terminated in the old location, I now do not receive any signal or clocking from those lines. When I plug in the new cables in the BRI ports then I get a quick green and orange light then no lights all of the sudden.

My quetion is, what the is maximum length of Cat5 I can use for the ISDN BRI device and should I rather use Shielded Cat6 at a 60 meter length?

Regards,

Le Roux

It depends which side you have lengthened.  If it is the wall jack side, U interface then you have 18,000 feet back to the central office or the first repeater that the telco has out on a telephone pole somewhere.

If you are lengthening the S/T side the distance is less but still 700 feet in short passive mode.   So if you are receiving the S/T interface from the PBX and it is already close to the 700 ft distance you may have gone over.
