We purchased a pair of HDX8000 1080p codecs.  The units work fine, but when we have the units call each other (at 6Mb/s) they always connect at 720p.  It was my understanding the HDX8000's (Part number 7200-23160-001) did not need a 1080p upgrade license.  We've passed the question onto our Polycom reseller, but they've yet to come up with anything.

Anyone else have this issue crop up?

Just as a follow up here is the admin guide. On page 1-2.  http://supportdocs.polycom.com/PolycomService/support/global/documents/support/setup_maintenance/pro...

Under the HDX 8000 it states "Polycom HDX 8000 series systems with the 1080p Resolution option installed can send and receive full HD (1080p) video."

You need to have a 1080p activated on the HDX system. Did you buy 1080p keys for the HDX units?

HP Recommended

No, we were told these units did not require it.  The HDX8000-720p (7200-23150-001) we were told would require the upgrade, but the HDX8000-1080p (7200-23160-001) did not require as it was included in the purchase (The HDX8000-1080p is what we purchased).

Is this not the case?  I don't even see a 1080p option listed in the tech spec whitepaper for the the HDX8000 here http://docs.polycom.com/global/documents/products/telepresence_video/datasheets/hdx8000-datasheet.pd...

Yes you will need to get a 1080p key activated on the unit to get 1080p calls to work.

Our recent HDX8000 1080p system purchase still required us to use the included key code to "upgrade" to 1080p.

Thanks all!  I'll head back to our Polycom reps and find out why we were told it wasn't needed.

jkamper:  You said the license was included.  Was it in the box with the codec or was it sent seperately?

HP Recommended

Key code paperwork was include in packaging.
