We had our RealPresence Group 500 hacked by someone who changed all the menus to Arabic and set a password on it. Was there anyway they would have been able to view or listen to conferences after it was hacked? It was set up directly connected to the internet and with no password on it (nice going). We need to find out if someone was able;e to view conferences without us knowing.

Thanks for your help.

Hello KG123,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The only way to remote monitor a conference is if it was activated via the Group Series GUI itself.

Please work with your Polycom reseller on how to install this and other endpoints securely when exposed to the internet.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards

Thanks. Believe me if I set it up there would have been security set on it. So ideally if someone was able to get in to the remote web interface they could have enabled monitoring of meetings?

HP Recommended

No,

not via the Web Gui, only through the Gui of the GS via the remote.

Well that is very good news! Can you point me in the direction of where I would find documentation about the remote viewing ability using the Group Series GUI?

Thanks very much.

All documentation about RP Group 500 is >>> here <<<.

Take a look in RPG Admin's Guide -> Monitoring a Room or Call with the Web Interface.
