Jitter on video / audio

We have two HDX8000 systems that we do regular video conferences with. Each side has 10MB of bandwidth using IP as the connection method. More often than not when we connect the video conference picture starts to experience jerking and the audio will at times also go in and out. There's plenty of bandwidth when we monitor the circuits. there are times when the video and audio quality is fine but its more the exception than the rule; any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you

Re: Jitter on video / audio

Sounds like you are experiencing Packet Loss.   What do the statistics on the HDX tell you during the call?  What do the stats from the CDR say ? (packet loss, Jitter, etc)...

You might want to put up a ping between the two sites (using a PC or desktop) during the video call and see if the ping times are swinging wildly... This could indicate you are saturating one of the routers or network in between the two sites.

Good Luck,

Re: Jitter on video / audio

What if there is zero packet loss?

QoS is set to identify the packet to set the priorities, because there is no VLAN.

Major Jitter is obsverved when the bandwidth is increase to above 512k.  As the bandwidth is increased and content is shared the issue intensifies.

Could this be a network WAN/LAN issue?

If so, how can I prove to the network team the issue is network related?

Re: Jitter on video / audio

Who is reporting the zero packet loss ?   The Routers and Switches or the Polycom equipment ?

Did you try doing some pings between sites using 1450 for buffer size ?   How are the times ?  Do they swing a lot or are they very stable ?
