Hello,

I have a questions about MTR and third-party join:

Do we need an additional license to use it or once it's enabled following the Microsoft guide we can just forward meetings to the device?

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/rooms/third-party-join

Thank you for your help!

Hello @ValerioUK

whilst I understand figuring something out may be frustrating but let me just remind you of the following:

  • The OS running the Microsoft Teams Application is provided by our Partner Microsoft
  • The Teams Application running on these Windows 10 Machines is provided by our Partner Microsoft
  • The Teams Platform you want to use the 3rd Party Guest Join is hosted by our Partner Microsoft

All of the above leads to the quickest way in seeking support to work with our partner Microsoft. Poly, just like HP, Dell, Lenovo etc. is simply supplying the hardware and bundles additional Poly components into the overall solution.

On the MTR you simply need t to enable this via the GUI:

image

Again I would need to refer you to our Partner Microsoft if there is a Power Shell command for this.

You will then have to make the relevant changes as outlined in the document already shared.

My colleague @Uwe_Ansmann hosts this in his own blog >here<

Simply select English on the right-hand side. Also, ensure you have a rule for Advanced Threat Protection Safe Links set on the Microsoft end.

For further questions or clarification, you are welcome to ask and volunteers may reply but if you still feel this is a Poly issue work with our support organisation on this.

Best regards

Hello @ValerioUK ,

Welcome back to the Poly community.

Some or a couple of your old post(s) or reply(s) to them >here< are still open/pending as you have not marked these as "Accept as a solution" or at least provide some form of feedback or answer.

If they are in this state nobody finding them via a community search will know if an answer or advice provided was useful and has maybe helped you.

Could you therefore kindly go over them and mark or answer as appropriate?

Please do not simply mark them without any type of feedback.

If they are marked as "Accept as a solution" other users can find these easier and it helps them to utilize the community more efficiently.

For your new issue, I would suggest working with our Partner Microsoft as in the MTR case Poly does not have anything to do with the underlying Microsoft OS or the Microsoft Teams application using the Poly sold hardware.

Feel free to report back here when you have an answer.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards

Steffen Baier

Hi Steffen,

thank you for your reply.

I understand that the OS is not yours, but you are selling the product with your name on it, so you should be able to answer this question as Poly.

I believe you sell and install via partners hundreds of this device every year. As the functionality is there (even if provided by Microsoft) someone from poly should be aware of how it works.

Doing some researches and different meetings, I got to know that when clicking a webex or zoom invitation on the integrated teams calendar, a web browser get triggered and brings you to the meeting room.

As there is no software to be installed I don't think there is any need of additional (Cisco or Zoom) licenses. When you click on the MTR link it opens a web browser.

Thank you anyway to finding the time to answer me

Hello @ValerioUK ,

If you check my signature you see I am a volunteer so the answer is not related to my day job. I waited 24h giving more clued up volunteers to answer. As nobody did I replied with the most logical reply where to look for information.

Best Regards

Hi Steffen,

Thank you for you answer and for your time volunteering on the poly forum, my comment was not directly addressed to you personally.

I'm just a bit frustrated with poly.
