I want to know what is NAT is H.323 compatible option in Firewall setting (Adman-> Network-> IP Network -> Firewall) of Polycom Equipment (VSX and HDX). When I unchecked it , I cannot dial to internal other VC device (within company network). I need to unchecked this for one of the external call but with this setting I am not able to connect internal calls. Please suggest.

Thanks

Amit

Hello Amit,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The HDX Admin Guide for example => here <= explains on page 2-23 what this setting does.

Hello,

So when you use a NAT you are telling the HDX/VSX to call using your external IP address. H.323 Compatible is just saying your firewall has hard coded fixed ports to send in and out H.323 traffic. Now when you are using a NAT to call a internal site you are going outside of your network to go back in. This is most likely why you are not able to make internal call when using a NAT. Now the best way to get internal and external calls to work would be using a firewall that supports H.460 firewall transversal. The Polycom VBP (VIdeo Border Proxy) series can help with this. There are other option that can be done through gatekeepers as well.

Hi, NAT is H.323 Compatible option available in lifesize? This option is available in polycom in Firewall option.

Please help.

Thanks for your reply.

I still have a doubt. My VC equipments are Polycom HDX 7000 HD,VSX 8000,VSX 7000e. For only one of the external party i have been suggested to do the below changes.

NAT Configuration - Manual

NAT Public Address- X.X.X.X

NAT H.323 Compatible - unchecked

But if I unchecked this H323 box (As per suggestion) I am not able to connect my internal (Within company network).

But for any other external call (Except above particular external call), I never had to do any such changes.( unchecking this H323 compatible box).

Also , is the same kind of setting available in Lifesize also ?

Would help your answer on this.
