I have a client that needs help with a first time deployment of a Polycom Group Series 700.

I sent over the admin guide and Polycom port documents.

Now they are asking:

Polycom traffic needs to be tagged or untagged.

Not sure what Polycom’s official recommendation is.

What kind of network is being used.  Do they mean 'tagged or untagged' for QOS?  If they are prioritizing packets then the video /audio traffic from/to the video unit may need to be tagged to ensure it gets thru.

If you are referring to QoS --This really depends on your network hops (routers, swicthes..etc) QoS has to be honored and configured identically at every single hop on the network, on your bridges, DMA, endpoints or it will not work. As you can see, this is more than just a polycom endpoint setting. Once the network appliances are configured, you would use the agreed upon values on your VTCs (i.e:group series and HDX) you would set the network quality selection based on how the enterprise is doing QoS..either IP Prescedence or DiffServ and then use the ordinal number that corresponds to the enterprise wide hexidecimal value for voice, video, control and management QoS values.
