We will be utilizing some several GroupSeries 310s in the coming weeks to outfit patient rooms
within an ICU at one of the facilities I support. This will allow the physicians to perform virtual rounds
on patients (and check instrument settings/readings via the cam)...

One feature we would 'like' would be some sort of indicator we could connect to the codecs so nurses outside of the rooms would know 'there is a physician rounding on this patient remotely'.. that way if they have a question or need to inform the provider with any information.. they could walk into the room and do so.

I have been looking at the devices made for phones/soft-phones (like the Poly - status indicator)

Poly - Status Indicator.

These devices seem to be driven by software.. which WOULD work if RealPresence Desktop supported PTZ control when 2x ReaPresence clients called one another...  but for simplicity we have decided to go with a 310 and a 43" television mounted within each room.

Can something similar be done to the GroupSeries (without internally soldering cabling to anysort of LED indicators) that would provide this feature?

In a perfect world I could connect a USB status indicator to the codec (or some sort of light driven by the 3.5mm jack) and it would 'light-up' when the device wakes from sleep (when the user calls into the codec directly)...

We've reached out to our Polycom reps with questions, but have not heard back...

Does anyone have any ideas they would be willing to share 🙂
