Good day

Just a couple of questions on the above setup.

1. Can we make H323 calls by dialing IP addresses? So far you have to sign into SFB to make a call. Anyway the 8800 can just make an H323 call as a standalone?

2. How do you enable speaker tracking on the EE IV usb camera? Do you need another peripheral for this to work?

Thanks

VKS

Hello @vsondoyi,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

To answer your real question:

  1. The Trio does not support H.323 and it neither advertised to do so

  2. The Trio in combination with a Eagle Eye USB camera does not support any speaker tracking and is neither advertised to do so.

Hi Steffen

As usual manyn thanks for your prompt responses.

The 8800 and the EE were updated to the latest firmware versions, 5.5.4.xxx and 1.1.420 respectively.

The client who bought this assumed it would make H323 calls. we were only notified of the requirement when implementing. I did mention that it was not capable but had to get your confirmation.

on the other hand, if the phone is setup as a SIP extension on a PABX system, is it then possible to make that h323 call, say over a border element that can convert from SIP to H323 and vice versa?

Thanks

Good day Steffan

Just to follow up on this, what would be the bandwidth requirement for a video call when in skype for business mode?

Thanks

Hello @vsondoyi,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

This completely depends on the call.

The factory default is a Call Rate (kbps) 2048 but you can change this. A Centralized Conferencing call is 540.
