Hi to all,

I don't know if my question is a dumb question but I'm a newbe with Polycom and I'm not sure....

We have a customer who has an RealPresence Trio Visual+ equipment (they bought to other). He hasn't got any PBX system or any UC server where to register the Polycom equipment... Could the equipment works os this scenario?? I mean, could these devices work in autonomous mode??? That I need is if this equipment needs any SIP server for to work.....

Thanks in advance for all and I'm sorry if it is a very dumb question...

Hello @DavidB,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

To answer your actual Question the Trio can receive a simple SIP call and does not require a server for this.

Do you mean, if we haven't a SIP trunk, this device is not able to place calls??? Is it correct??

My customer hasn't got any SIP trunk in his office...

Hello @DavidB,

Considering that your reply is still missing the basic information requested by myself the answer is still yes.

 

The Trio can receive a SIP call from any other compatible equipment without registering to a SIP switch.

 

Simply set Settings > Lines > Line 1 > Server 1 > Register > Set to NO

 

This way it can also call another system via an IP or URL
