Hi,

We are using Polycom HDX 7000 and we have Public IPs assinged on our both offices with NAT.

We are receiving multiple unknown calls during the meeting which annoy the participants.

I applied an Inbound Access List to prevent unauthorized access by allowing only our remote IP to dial-in but after this sometime we receive error "Your call could not be completed because the call was routed through an intermediate network that does not service the far site.Contact your network administrator for assistance." if we dial from our side whereas not outbould ACL is applied.

I don't understand why inbound ACL is affecting outbound traffic?

Thanks

Shahzad

Hello Shahzad,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Where have you applied this ACL as to my knowledge the HDX only offers to restrict the access to the Web Interface but does not control inbound or outbound traffic.

Apr 07,2015 Question: How can I prevent Phantom calls to my Video Solution?

Answer: A local Firewall or a Polycom Firewall traversal solution can be utilized to stop this. In order to add this to a possible future Software version in the form of a whitelist please contact Luriep => here <= or Security Center: Security Bulletin Relating to Worldwide Botnet Dialing H.323-Capable Systems

I suggest to work with your firewall vendor in regards of any calls being blocked based on the troubleshooting as advised above.

Hi Steffen,

Thanks for reply.

I applied access list on my router interface connected to ISP which restricts the normal traffic to destination public IP which is our polycom and allows only from specific source which is our remote polycom IP.

    10 permit ip host 75.*.*.2 host 212.*.*.170 (541203 matches)
20 deny ip any host 212.*.*.170 (20753 matches)
30 permit ip any any (69986016 matches)

74.*.*.2 (Remote Polycom)

212.*.*.170 (Local Polycom)

You can see from the above output of show access-list that its matching the traffic which is allowed and also which is not allowed for our polycom. If I remove this access-list,I don't get any error but receive unwated calls during the conference.

I did not block any port in this access list then why I receive the error.

Thanks

Shahzad

Hello Shahzad,

we would need a Wireshark trace from a spanned port on the HDX end in order to monitor the traffic we are trying to send.

The above FAQ article should give you enough basic information to help you to check this for yourself or you need to involve the Router Vendors support team.

There are no changes on the HDX end when this fails. The changes are made on your network side so you need to investigate there.
