I'm trying to find out the Service Discontinuation Date for VSX 7000A (128) and HDX7000 (64) units.

Polycom's website does not list the above units -  http://support.polycom.com/PolycomService/support/cn/support/documentation/eol.html# .

I called their support line yesterday and the Operator could not give me a definite answer either. He kept referring me back to the above webpage.

Does anyone know?

Thanks, BMan.

Hi Petet,

Thanks for the info.

I called Polycom Support again and got someone who was much more helpful and knowledgeable.

They confirmed the VSX7000a (128) is the same as the VSX7000e (128) so the service discontinuation date is 30/4/2016.

They also confirmed the HDX7000 (64) has not been scheduled EOL yet. Therefore, it is not listed on Polycom's End Of Life (EOL) Support Policy webpage.

Cheers. BMan.

Hi BMan.

The US version of this doc says the following.

So if you're "SateSide" it's 30/04/2016 as is EU.  The 1st column is last sale date, 2nd is sevice discontinuation date.

The only HDX on this list is the HDX4001 so I guess the HDX7000 is not scheduled for EOL yet.

Does anyone know when the VSX 7000A was first released?  I am working on a proposal to replace these devices.

A "real" VSX7000A doesn't have a VGA connector on it.  That's the only way to tell it from a VSX7000S.

I can't guess a 1st sale date as I'm not Polycom but you can detetct the age of the codec by S#

820312xxxxxxAK

would be 82 = Made in Thailand.

03  = made in 2003

12 = made in week 12

xxxxxx = last 6 digits of the MAC.

AK =  it's a VSX7000

So now you know the age of all your codecs that should help the proposal to replace.

Pete,

You are not right, the unit without VGA connector was VSX7000 without any letter. VSX7000a (as in the system properties) is the same as VSX7000s (as in documentation and price lists).

VSX7000s(a) was introduced in august 2005 and original VSX7000 was discontinued in december 2005.

Mike

Thanks for the correction Mike.  I've been labouring under that misunderstanding for ages.  I'll refer to this thread next time.  Pete
