Hi Guys,

Have anyone come across a better way of recording from Skype for Business using Polycom Trios & Group series. At the moment the system reverts back to legacy content mood once recording is initiated.

any ideas.

Thanks

Hello @Joe85,

This Limitation is actually mentioned at least within the GroupSeries 6.1.5 Admin Guide => here <= page 50:

Scenarios Where VbSS Content Sharing Reverts to Legacy RDP

In video conference calls involving RealPresence Group Series systems and Skype for Business clients, VbSS content sharing might revert to RDP when VbSS is not supported. If content reverts from VbSS to RDP while the system is sharing VbSS content, the system disconnects from the VbSS session, stops sending content, and displays a notification message. Content sharing is not interrupted and the system uses RDP for the remainder of the conference call.Main Limitations for Skype for Business VbSS Content Sharing

The following scenarios are not supported when using Skype for Business to share VbSS content.

  • Recording a call or meeting
  • Application window sharing
  • Taking control of a desktop sharing session
  • Audio in video calls over the content channel. In this scenario, audio is also not supported using RDP.

hi Joe85,

Not sure of the exact software versions ( sfb , windows OS , trio , GS ) you are using as your post doesn't mention that.

If this is a SFB 2015/2016 client then it is best to do recording with a Windows 10  OS machine  with the Polycom Trio .

Hope this helps!

Hello @Joe85,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

As already answered by my colleague it is always of use to include the currently used Software version of all Polycom devices involved as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

As this involves Microsoft could you kindly tell us more about the setup and the call scenario?

Are these Point to Point calls or AVMCU calls?

What other devices are in this call and who is sharing the content?

Is this VBSS or RDP?

In order to analyze the root cause for this I suggest logging this via your Polycom reseller so we can look at this.

We may need test accounts as well.

Hi Steffen,

The software version is Group Series 6.1.5

the current setup includes a windows 10 laptop with Skype for business 16 xx

once the call is initiated VBSS is active, however once the record button is use in skype for business we receive a message on the screen, stating that content will now revert to RDP due to recording.

The calls are AVMCU with up to three participants on windows 10 machines and the latest skype for business application.

The call always starts as VBSS preffered with meeting attendees joined, but once recording starts the content is reverted to legacy mode as sated on the display. the same behavior occurs for the polycom trios 5.5.3

Any thoughts.

Thanks

Hello @Joe85,

as already replied this may be a scenario that was outside of Microsofts 3PIP certification and therefore untested on the Polycom end.

This needs to come into support so we can officially check this and comment.

Thanks for explaining Steffen.

Thanks Steffen for clarification.

Is there any way I can prevent the VbSS Content Sharing reverting to Legacy RDP? How come it happens in the middle of the call and not just straight after I start sharing?

Hello @good_vibez,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

That depends on many factors.

As an example if a legacy client joins which does not support VBSS as an example.

We would need to look at some logs to determine the root cause in your specific scenario but this must come in via support.

In order to raise a support ticket you need to work with your Polycom reseller as they need to do this for you.

End Customers are unable to open a ticket directly with Polycom support.

If this is some sort of an Internet discounter please post either your phone's MAC address or your Polycom devices serial so I can look up who would be able to support you. This may not be who you purchased the Polycom device from.
