Has anyone see where you can set the video format of web cameras using Lync integration.  I am using a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910, which is capable of 720p video sharing, but the Video Format on the HDX sees it received as - 640x480.  Is there a limitation set on the HDX or Lync server that I am missing?

Thanks for the assistance with this issue.

Steve

Hi Steve...

that´s correct. In calls with MS lync the supported video resolution, that both system "nativly understand" is H.263 CIF.

Polycom offers a RTV licence for the HDX systems (HDX 9000 rev B, HDX 8000 rev B, HDX 7000 rev C, HDX 6000 rev C, HDX 4500, HDX 4000 rev C , you also need software version 3.x) that enables 3 different video resolutions in calls with the lync (CIF, VGA, and HD (720p)). if you want to do 720 video resolution with the lync, you need to have a quadcore cpu.

If you want to now more about HDX <-> Lync and the RTV licence, take a look @ Jeff Schertz´s Blog here.

Actually if he is seeing 640x480 reported than that is an indication that RTV is already licensed and in use (640x480 is how the HDX reports VGA resolution in RTV).

Most likely you'll need to update the Lync server configuration to allow the RTV resolution to scale above VGA to HD, this blog article contains details on how to do this as well as further explains how HD video is handled in Lync 2010:
