I recently purchase a Trio 8800, visual+, and an EagleEye camera.  I was under the impression that this setup would allow the camera to track the active speaker in a Skye for Business meeting.  In my testing so far it has not done any automatic tracking, and I do not see options for video tracking in the web management.

Is this setup capable of video tracking?  If not, is there any advantage to having the EagleEye camera?  Or would I be better off with a less expensive camera model for future conference rooms?

Thanks for any advice!

Hello @jmorphew,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Usually our data sheets explain exactly what kind of cameras can be used and what functionality they have.

The EagleEye IV USB camera is a MPTZ which stands for motorized pan tilt and zoom.

This is a manual feature either via the remote that comes with the camera or you can store multiple fixed positions via the Trio UI.

If you require Auto Tracking you should look at the EagleEye Acoustic or EagleEye Director which both work with the Trio in combination with a VisualPro or a Standalone Group Series.

You will be better off not buying any more MSR cameras, and instead look at investing in the upcoming VisualPro combined with a Polycom Producer for automatic tracking capabilities.

I ran into the same issue myself.  Although I knew that the camera did not contain auto tracking capability, many expect it in today's camera systems, especially at a $1k price point.
