Which camera port of HDX you use? You should connect camera to port #1, port #2 require external power supply for camera

Hi, did you ever get a resolution to your problem w/the HDX8000 not recognizing the camera & the remote not working? One of my customers has the same issue & we have switched out cameras thinking it was a bad camera but the same thing happened once they installed a brand new camera out of the box.. Is the HDX8000 the issue? really stumped here!! Thanks

Hello @Francis Muwalo,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

There are already multiple replies to this or similar posts all over the community.

Could I kindly ask you to answer the following:

  • Is this a HDX as this post is about HDX's ?
  • If this is a HDX is this a brand new unit or a used unit?
  • If this is a used unit has this suddenly stopped working or is this something you found from day 1?
  • Have you checked and ensured all the cables are seated correctly and no bend pins?
  • Is this connected to port 1 or 2 and if port 2 are you using an external power supply?
  • What software version is this HDX running?
  • How old is this HDX or what is the serial number starting with 82?

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards

Hello @Francis Muwalo,

This HDX 8000 was sold to the DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE back in 17/09/2012 so this unit is not new.

Most likely you purchased this 2nd hand and the unit is defective.

Btw. on August 1st 2016, Polycom announced the Polycom HDX range end-of-sale and end-of-life.
