A customer of mine inherited an HDX 7000, and asked us to set it up for them to be able to do videoconferencing.  We have properly set up on a large TV monitor, and I can access all of the Polycom programming settings on the screen.  But their needs are simple, and they want to be able to connect to individual users who use web cams and microphones from their computers.  Can the HDX 7000 connect with others in that way?  They also want to know if they can connect to other users via Skype.  I apologize if these seem like ignorant questions, but I can find no documentation that affirms or denies these.  Bear in mind that we are the customer's phone vendor, and our experience with Polycom products is limited to their phones, but not their videoconferencing equipment.  Thank you in advance for any insight you can provide.

Hello

It's always use full to post the currently used software version as this may depend on an answer provided.

This also allows yourself to check against matching software release notes.

The release notes also explain what servers the HDX is compatible with.

Any software version should be able to make or receive either H323 or Sip Video/audio calls from industry compatible devices.

Polycom offers mobile or desktop based clients )license may be required) to make or receive such calls via compatible Tablets, mobile phones or PCs using their built in cameras.

To my knowledge the HDX, depending on the software version and license in place, supports LYNC 2010 and to some extend 2013 but not Skype directly

The whole setup is rather complex to explain via the means of a community so I suggest you work with a Polycom reseller in your area as you may need to purchase relevant licenses or support contracts for future software updates.
