I'm trying to get an IP670 phone set up with a 2nd registration to a 3CX server.  Here's the config file that I've tried, but only the first registration works.  What am I doing wrong here?

Hello John,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used SIP or UC Software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.

The above is also stated in the "Read First: Welcome to the Polycom VoIP Forum"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

My guess is that you are running UC Software 4.1.0 or 4.1.1 which is for LYNC only and one line only.

I see what you mean by mentioning the version of firmware.  In this case, we're running 4.07.

Hello John,

not sure f the phone was configured via 3CX templates or on your own but it looks far to complex.

Look at this post here and simply additionally configure another line:

That post indicated that two 'registrations' can't be set up in one configuration file, but must use two files, one for each registration.  I'm not sure that I understand how to do that.  Is this really necessary, or can both registrations be set up in the one configuration file?

Yes, the configuration file was generated by a 3CX template.  I made changes to the template to add functionality that was not in that template.  Everything works fine, but I just need to add a second line/registration to one phone.

I think I can do it through the web interface on the phone, but I would like to have it done in the template, so if the phone is reprovisioned, the second line/registration will be sure and 'stay intact'.

Hello John,

of course can you setup 2 or more line's using configuration files but again I am not 3CX so I do not know what they add into their templates.

UC Software 4.0.7 is no longer supported either so therefore try:

  • Upgrade the phone to 4.0.9
  • Manually configure 2 lines via the web interface and simply backup the working result afterwards

To simplify this, this works for one registered extension, on an IP670 phone:

<reg>

<reg.1.server.1 reg.1.server.1.register="1"/>
<reg.1.server.1 reg.1.server.1.address="192.168.0.250"/>
<reg.1.server.1 reg.1.server.1.port="5060"/>
<reg.1.server.1 reg.1.server.1.expires="120"/>

<reg.1.outboundProxy reg.1.outboundProxy.address="192.168.0.250"/>
<reg.1.outboundProxy reg.1.outboundProxy.port="5060"/>

<reg.1 reg.1.address="1001"/>
<reg.1 reg.1.label="Ext: 1001"/>
<reg.1 reg.1.displayName="Polycom Test"/>
<reg.1 reg.1.ringType="default"/>
<reg.1 reg.1.callsPerLineKey="4"/>
<reg.1 reg.1.lineKeys="1"/>
<reg.1.auth reg.1.auth.password="7mq35g8"/>
<reg.1.auth reg.1.auth.userId="1001"/>

</reg>

Should this work, for two registered extensions on the same IP670 phone, with the below configuration lines in the same configuration file for this phone (0004F268853A-config.cfg)?

<reg>

<reg.1.server.1 reg.1.server.1.register="1"/>
<reg.1.server.1 reg.1.server.1.address="192.168.0.250"/>
<reg.1.server.1 reg.1.server.1.port="5060"/>
<reg.1.server.1 reg.1.server.1.expires="120"/>

<reg.1.outboundProxy reg.1.outboundProxy.address="192.168.0.250"/>
<reg.1.outboundProxy reg.1.outboundProxy.port="5060"/>

<reg.1 reg.1.address="1001"/>
<reg.1 reg.1.label="Ext: 1001"/>
<reg.1 reg.1.displayName="Polycom Test"/>
<reg.1 reg.1.ringType="default"/>
<reg.1 reg.1.callsPerLineKey="4"/>
<reg.1 reg.1.lineKeys="1"/>
<reg.1.auth reg.1.auth.password="7mq35g8"/>
<reg.1.auth reg.1.auth.userId="1001"/>

<reg.2 reg.2.address="1002"/>
<reg.2 reg.2.label="Ext: Door"/>
<reg.2 reg.2.displayName="Polycom Test 2"/>
<reg.2 reg.2.ringType="default"/>
<reg.2 reg.2.callsPerLineKey="1"/>
<reg.2 reg.2.lineKeys="1"/>

</reg>

Hello John,

I would not really call this a simple configuration.

This is what I used in my test and it works:

reg.1.address="3000"
		reg.1.auth.password="3000"
		reg.2.address="3010"
		reg.2.auth.password="3010"
		reg.1.auth.userId="3000"
		reg.2.auth.userId="3010"
		reg.1.server.1.address="10.252.122.122"
		reg.2.server.1.address="10.252.122.122"

Once you have this working you can fine tune it with Calls Per Line key etc. but most of the configuration you added is either standard anyway ( 5060) or not required.

I suspect this might be part of your issue:

<reg.1.lineKeys reg.1.lineKeys.SPIP670="48"/>

<reg.2.lineKeys reg.2.lineKeys.SPIP670="48"/>

You have assigned the first registration to 48 line keys on the phone, so I'm not sure where your second registration would show up. Perhaps try setting both to 1, and then you should find that you will have lines 1 and 2 on the phone registered to your 2 extensions.
