I have a use case where I need to have Lync delegates enabled but not simultaneous ring.

I'm trying to add the "boss" line to the delegate's phone using login credentials (both PIN-based, from the initial Lync setup and typing in the Windows login credentials).  In both cases, the delegate's own line registers but the boss line (lyncline-11234565098@xyz.com) never registers.

Is this some additional detail I can get for this?   I don't see any error in the Lync log during this sequence.

I can dial out using this line from the Lync softphone so the delegation is enabled.

Hello hkelley,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Are you talking about a dual registration?

If yes this is not currently supported.

Forgive my ignorance,  I don't know what "dual registration" means precisely.

I have two lines:

  • Line A
  • Line B

The Line B Lync user is a voice delegate of Line A Lync user.   I want Line B user to have a line button on his VVX 600 for each line (to allow outbound calling from either line).   I think you call this the boss/admin scenario in your literature (though in this case, that is not the relationship).

Is this not supported?

Hello hkelley,

not knowing what your currently used software version is I quote from the UCS 5.0.1 Release notes page 7:

Note: Registering with Lync Server
If you are using Polycom UC Software 5.0.1 with Microsoft Lync Server, you can only register one line. You cannot register multiple lines on a phone with Lync Server.

Yes, UC 5.0.1 and Lync 2010.

I'm  not really trying a dual registration, I'm using the shared line feature described here:

http://blog.schertz.name/2013/10/shared-line-appearances-for-vvx-phones/

http://imaucblog.com/archive/2013/09/13/deploying-polycom-bossadmin-now-a-part-of-ucs-5-0-firmware/

My issue appeared to be with Lync, not the phone itself.   My guess is that it is the "you've been added as a delegate" SIP(?) message that tells the phone to configure itself.     I was already a delegate so that message wasn't being sent.   In fact, I had to remove myself, add another delegate, then re-add myself as a delegate to re-trigger the message.

Hello hkelley,

thanks for clarifying this.

As this is a relatively new phone and my current workload does not allow me to attempt to reproduce this I can only suggest you work with your Polycom reseller to bring this to the attention of Polycom support.
