Greetings all,

Just got a Soundstation IP 6000, and it has come with the SIP software preload.  Can this be downgraded to standard VoIP?  My system is a Nortel BCM50 (Avaya), and I don't have a SIP provider.  I'm just wondering if I box it up and send it back, or if it can be salvaged.  Kind of disappointed at Polycom support at this juncture, and hoping that I can find the help I need here.

As a follow up, the people at the call in support line said that they have Polycom engineers as moderators here and that I would get the help I need.  Guess none of them are online yet...

Hello KSC_IT,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

I am unsure on your initial comment in regards of Standard SIP and also on your additional post in regards to support.

Support will have to come from the reseller you purchased the phone from.

In regards Nortel would have done any interoperability testing to ensure our devices are working with their SIP server.

In regards of standard SIP the community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Oct 7, 2011 Question: Can I register or is my Polycom Phone compatible with a “XYZ” SIP Server?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Simply adding these details to the Web Interface of the SSIP6000 will register it to any compatible SIP server using standard SIP.

SIP vs VoIP...I have licensing for 2 VoIP phones on my current system, SIP is incompatible, as I do not have a SIP provider.  Reseller doesn't help (got it from Tiger) and phone provider cant figure out where to send me.  I just need to know if this unit (p/n 2200-15660-001) is compatible/will work with a Nortel(Avaya) BCM50.  From what I have heard, the 4.0.3 software differs from the SIP 3.0.2, and should allow me to use this device with my current system.

Thanks, couldn't find the post button in support community.

Hello KSC_IT,

please follow the above post to register your VoIP SIP Phone to your server.

The Phone does not register like a SIP Trunk.

The FAQ also explains how you upgrade the phone if you want the latest SIP supported software 4.0.9

Your Reseller should assist you or enable you to contact the distributor they purchased the Phone from.

If they decline please post your Phones MAC address so I can follow this up and inform you who to contact for Tier / Level 1 support.
