We have series of polycom phones, can we enable automatic login to common area phone rather than giving the ext and pin all the time?

Hello Kush,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.

The above is also stated in the "Read First: Welcome to the Polycom VoIP Forum"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

The FAQ in addition contains this post:

Apr 01, 2015 Question: How can I turn a Polycom VVX Business Media Phone into a Common Area Phone?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Hello Kush,

The above should be applicable to the CX5500 and I recommend to update this to the latest 1.1.3 software firstly.

For the CX Phone Polycom and other manufacturers produce these optimized for Microsoft® Lync® devices after a reference design and the embedded OS running on the phones is provided, supported and maintained by our partner Microsoft®.

You therefore may want to reach out to the Microsoft® community and / or Microsoft® support directly instead as this is the most direct and efficient path.

If we upgarde CX5500 to 1.1.3 will automatic login work? also  can we follow the same procedure which you have replied in my other post for upgarding the firmware of CX 5500.

Hello Kush,

you can use the same DHCP Option 160 or 66 in order to provision the CX5500 with configuration "but" a current bug may no apply all features provided.

As a workaround on the phone press Settings => Basic => Update configuration

What currently does not work either is the automated software update. Providing the device.local.updateServer via a <mac>.cfg does not appear in the Web Interface.

Simply manually adding it via the web interface at Utilities => Software Update => Custom Server

For any follow up requests I can only suggest to work with your Polycom reseller.
