working on vvx series 5.4.5 fimware (sip)

trying to get failover working properly

can not use srv records in this scenario

reg.1.server.1 goes to 10.1.1.1  (example)

reg.1.server.2 goes to 10.2.2.2

register to server 1 only

if server 1 fails register with server 2

phones still want to register to both servers though

i have tried a few different variations - see below

  reg.1.server.1.failOver.onlySignalWithRegistered="1"
    reg.1.server.1.failOver.failBack.mode="duration"
    reg.1.server.1.failOver.failBack.timeout="120"
    reg.1.server.2.failOver.reRegisterOn="1"
    reg.1.server.2.failOver.failRegistrationOn="0"
    reg.1.server.2.failOver.onlySignalWithRegistered="1"
    reg.1.server.2.failOver.failBack.mode="duration"
    reg.1.server.2.failOver.failBack.timeout="120>

Hello c3cloud,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The current VVX software does not support this type of scenario.

You either have to use a DNS record or the phone will always try to register to the Servers at the same time.

Only the Polycom Trio 8800 and Trio 8500 has this feature at present as this was required for Cisco Call Manager registration and failovers using multiple subscriber IP addresses.

This was added via VOIP-126047 CUCM redundancy support / registration redundancy fail-ove and I believe there may be plans to also add this to the VVX.

Again this may be subject to change and you may want to add your voice to a feature request:

Jan 03, 2013 Question: How can I request a change to the current Polycom SIP / UC Software?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Hello c3cloud,

in my personal experience the document quoted by yourself is not applicable to what you require and as already outlined not a feature currently supported on the VVX Product range.

As far as I understand you want to phone to register to one IP (not DNS) only and only if this fails re-register to the 2nd IP.

The phone should not connect prior to the second server.

You can try and follow the document as you believe is does what you are after or if this fails open a support ticket via your reseller.

In order to raise a support ticket you need to work with your Polycom reseller as they need to do this for you. End Customers are usually unable to open a ticket directly with Polycom support.

If this is some sort of an Internet discounter please post either your phone's MAC address or your Polycom devices serial so I can look up who would be able to support you. This may not be who you purchased the Polycom device from.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards
