It's my first topic...
I would like to know if Polycom is working to enable the "Music ON Hold" feature on the Polycom CX500/600/700 devices.
I have a lot of these devices and my voice-gateway doesn't support this feature...
DOes the Lync Phone Edition Cumulative Update 4 (might be ready soon) fix this issue?? Or Have i wait more??
I hope that Polycom is working on this issue...
Thanks for any help
welcome to the Polycom Community.
Coming from a PABX background the MOH / Music on Hold is usually always provided by the PABX / PSTN.
Our Polycom SIP Deskphones also depend on the SIP Platform to provide the MoH.
I have seen that this question regarding MoH is affecting many manufacturers of Lync Phone Edition devices, not only Polycom.
Have you raised this with Microsoft yet?
Polycom Global Services
Thanks for the quick answer...
I decided to write here just to have news...
I imagine that Polycom knows if in the next updates the feature might be available...
I'm testing also some "media gateways" but if the phones (as the Lync PC client) can send MOH, i will be more happy to not spend more money...
The Lync Phone Edition clients do not support Music On Hold and this feature has not yet been introduced by Microsoft. It may be added in a future update or possibly not until the next wave release of Lync, or potentially not at all, this feature has not been committed to as of yet. I suggest opening a ticket with Microsoft as a feature request as the more customer they hear from the more this specific request can be moved up the priority list.
Currently the only options are to use a media gateway which supports MoH to inject he audio stream into a current call with an LPE device.
