We are in the process of rolling out Lync 2010 to our users.  We have a pilot group of users that already have a shared pool of external phone numbers.  A few of those users have the CX600 and it works fine.  We are beginning to distribute devices to the rest of our users, of whom some are getting  the 600.  Those users currently do not have external numbers and won't for about a month, but they can use Lync internally to make calls.  When they connect their 600 to their computer or inline with the network cable, they cannot use the phone.  Is an external # required to use the 600 with Lync, or is there a special setting that needs to be made?

Thanks!

Hello Longshot9,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Not sure if this community is the correct one for LYNC specific questions but have these users got Enterprise Voice activated ?

You may be better asking => here <=

In order to use any Lync Phone Edition device the Lync user must be enabled for Enterprise Voice.  This does not mean that they actually need to have a DID (or anything) assigned to their LineURI though, only that the Telephony Mode on the Lync user is not set to the default PC-to-PC Calling option.  This must be set to 'Enterprise Voice' in order to use and CX phone (except for the CX100).

Thanks Jeff, that worked like a charm.
