Hello,

I'm using a Polycom CX600 Lync phone and would like to initiate a call from my Linux machine, i.e., enter the phone number on the computer and have the CX600 make the call. How can this be done?

best regards,

Tom

Hello Tom,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

I am not aware of any officially supported way to initiate a outgoing call from the CX600 from a console or similar.

Polycom, as all the other Optimized for LYNC phone manufacturers, actually does not provide the software running on our CX phones. You may want to contact Microsoft directly or post this query in a Microsoft LYNC forum.

You may want to look at our VVX our SoundPoint phone range instead as you can utilize the following as described in the VoIP FAQ:

Feb 04, 2013 Question: Can I remotely control the Phone or send content to the Phone?

Answer: The <apps/> parameter can be used to utilize the push server controls and more information can be found => here <=

I have a Linux Lync client here

<removed as we do not allow comercial post's>

It does not interact with Polycom phones, but it could if Polycom asks me to do that.

Hello Fisil,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

As explained above the software running on Optimized for LYNC phones is provided by our partner Microsoft.

I am not aware of any interface to enable any CTI capability and you would need to work with Microsoft on this.

Thank you for your response.

This is unfortunate, as I'm not hopeful that Microsoft will provide support to access the device from a Linux machine...

best regards,

Tom
