Call Waiting on Polycom IP Phones

Hello,

I have Call Waiting feature on a FXO/FXS analog line from PSTN, but I can't get how to pickup the call waiting from a Polycom IP Phone.

The Call Waiting-related attributes in the Polycom phone (IP 335 in this case), are configurated as follows:

call.callWaiting.ring="beep"
call.callsPerLineKey="4"
reg.x.callsPerLineKey="4"

When I am receiving a second call (call waiting) from another internal SIP phone, the LCD display shows the caller ID and an --Answer-- softkey, so I can pickup the call waiting, but when the active call and the call waiting are from the PSTN analog FXO/FXS line, I just can hear the beep tone, but not softkey for to pickup the call.

Is the Hookflash supported on the Polycom phones, or is there an workaround for to program a softkey for to send a hookflash to the PSTN ?

For information, the phone is a IP 335, with the latest firmware: BootROM 4.3.0.0246/SIP3.3.2.0413. The VoIP gateway/switch is Freeswitch or Asterisk, and the Call Waiting configuration parameter for the analog channel on the switch is activated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Raul

Re: Call Waiting on Polycom IP Phones

Hello Raul,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

This Functionality depends completely on the Call Platform you are using as this would need to handle the sending of a Flash Signal to the PSTN.

The call itself would be placed on hold in the PSTN and you could possible work with some FSK Macros on a 2nd Line on the Phone to place the 1st Call on hold on the Phone and then dial the special code so the FX Cards sends the Hold Signal to the PSTN and then get back to the 1st call which should then be the 2nd caller.

As you see it depends on the Call Platform and not so much on the Polycom Endpoint.

Best regards
