How can we show the alpha part of the caller ID instead of just the number on a Polycom IP 335, we are using vodia PBX, I also noticed his on the 330 it will show both the name and the number but is there a way to switch the too for name and number?

Spoiler

Best regards

Sorry what I meant was if there a way to switch the name and number on the polycom 335 to number/name in the polycom.xml templates?

Hello Kid icarus,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

I am still not sure if I fully understand your request but the community's VoIP => FAQ <= contains this post here:

Jan 6, 2012 Question: How can I create a local directory or what is the 000000000000-directory.xml used for?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Above explains how a local directory entry can be used to name an incoming call.

Thanks Steffen for the reply but I was looking for a per call bases, this solution would be great for adding companies numbers but for the outside world it would be impossible to add everybody 😞

When a call comes into the vodia PBX ,I was looking for a way to have the incoming call show the ANI number and the Callers  Name of the person who is calling at the moment it shows the callers name and the number, so it's like switchin the name, number to number name 🙂

Is this possible on the phone?

Best regards

Hello Hamlet,

You may want to look at the following parameter:

numberFirstCID

Not knowing your currently used software version I simply quote from the UCS 4.0.2 Admin guide page 515:

  • If 0, the caller ID display will show the caller’s name first. If 1, the caller’s phone number will be shown first

The standard value is 0.
