Device behavior:

When an incoming call is answered, the caller notification changes from the calling party's ANI to the BLA extension's ANI.  Calls to non-BLA/SLA registrations (i.e. unique extensions) work as expected with continued display of the calling party's ANI.

SIP transactions:

When the call comes in, the initial INVITE to the BLA registration shows the caller's ANI in both the FROM header and Remote-Party-ID field.  After the call is answered, an UPDATE is sent by the switch with the same info in both the FROM header and P-Asserted-Identity field.  This is the same transaction sequence as for calls to unique (non BLA/SLA) extensions, which continue to display the caller's ANI after answering, as expected.

Is this intended default behavior or is this a bug?  Setting attendant.behaviors.preserveCallerIDOnPickup="1" does not resolve the issue.  Would setting voIpProt.SIP.CID.sourcePreference potentially be of any use here?  That has been left at default which means that Caller ID information is supposed to come from P-Asserted-Identity, Remote-Party-ID, and From, in that order, which should work.

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Hi Steffen,

Thanks for responding.

I played with a number of settings yesterday, including:

call.shared.preferCallInfoCID   and

voIpProt.SIP.CID.sourcePreference   (which apparently doesn't apply to shared lines)

to no avail.

Interestingly, if a call is answered on a shared line, then put on hold and picked up at another station, the caller's number (but not the provided or dipped name) is visible.  This could yield important clues so I captured some traffic where this happened and will be reviewing it today to make a better determination as to whether this is a possible bug in the device firmware or an issue with the switch not sending a needed info dialog.

I'll post back with my findings after I've hopefully made some sense of it.  I'm probably going to have to review RFC 3265 first... fun!

Regards,

- Phil
