I am trying to set up a VVX 500 with Camera for video calls. I am not a complete newbie on Polycom phones, but not well seasoned either. I have looked through the UCS admin Guide and the addendum, but a mstill unclear on the settings I need to set up the phone correctly.

I have 2 scenarios i am looking at...

1. Using a ADTRAN NV7100 and the VVX phones.

2. Using a Hosted SIP Provider.

I have a need for both, but if I can get 1 configured and working, I am sure I can get the other. When I emailed ADTRAN, they were not much help at all. so I am turning to the community of experts for assistance.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello Phoneguypaul,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

Video Support for the VVX500 and VVX600 was only added with UCS 4.1.3 so you may be using an older software and therefore the camera will not work.

I am currently at 5.0.0.6874 on the VVX 500. The camera Icon appears when on a call, but it is crossed out.

Hello Hello Phoneguypaul,,

most likely your SIP provider does not support video.

A simply call between a VVX500 and VVX600 in my lab with factory defaulted phones registered to an Asterisk server works without any additional configuration.

Please work with your SIP provider.
