we have 2 soundstation IP5000 phones and are having trouble connecting one of them to our network (Get a message on the phone "Network is Down"), the other is connects without an issue. We have allocated them both a static IP's and registered the mac address on the firewall. DHCP on the phone as been set to enabled. We are sure the cabling is ok as we plug the phone that is working into same ethernet cable and it works fine. We have connected a laptop to the cable and this also gets allocated an IP as expected. Is there any issues having 2 phones on the same network that we need to allow for? Are there any guides for configuring routers and firewalls that you are able to point us to, or engineers who we would be able to untilise. I do not think it is a hardware fault as this is the 3rd replacement phone that we have had the same or similar issues with.
In this situation I would run a packet capture between the phone and the network to see if you can see the DHCP discovery packets being sent by the phone, and/or if your DHCP server is responding to them with an offer, then if the phone is responding to that.
Depending on what you see, it may show you that the phone is having difficulty either transmitting or receiving the packets, or that you have a switch misconfiguration etc.
Thanks for the response, the phone has been returned as it is suspectede that it has a fault with the port. If it happens again I will give what you suggested a go. Thanks.
