Hello all,

We have an office in a remote area of the building where CAT5 was never run.  There is a PC in that office that is connecting to the LAN wirelessly.  Would it be at all possible to pass the network connection that is coming into the PC via wirless, out to the Wired NIC port on the PC?  We'd like to be able to connect the Polycom 550 to the network via the PC's wired port.  Can this be done?

Thanks in advance,

Howard

Hello Howard,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Depending on the PC's operating system there is something called Internet Connection sharing built into a windows operating system.

The quality / speed of the wireless connection may not be satisfactory to be used for calls and I doubt it is a supported installation from a Polycom point of view.

The decision lies with you as whilst a dropped packet whilst browsing the internet may not be of consequences for the user on the PC it will affect the phone call quality.
