Contact directory issue on VVX410/400

Right now the contact directory on my VVX410 alphabetizes by last name.  Is there anyway to change it to first name?

Thank you!

Re: Contact directory issue on VVX410/400

Hello cpappas,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.

The above is also stated in the "Read First: Welcome to the Polycom VoIP Forum"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

In addition it is also useful to provide some data what kind of Directory is being used. LDAP or simply the Phones built in Directory.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Re: Contact directory issue on VVX410/400

Hello,

Thank you for your assitance and information about providing more useful stats in my posts.

Currently my VVX410 is using 5.0.1.4068

The contact directory I am referring to is found at

Home > directories > contact directory

When I add new members to this directory, it auto sorts by last name.  I am hoping to change that to first name, if possible.

Thanks again,

Corrie

Re: Contact directory issue on VVX410/400

Hello Corrie,

I would suggest you upgrade the phone to the latest Software as 5.0.1 is pretty old.

The community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Oct 7, 2011 Question: How can I setup my Phone / Provisioning / Download / Upgrade / Update / Downgrade Software?
Resolution: Please check => here <=

The Parameter you are after is dir.search.field

You could import a file with the following content:

<web dir.search.field="1" />

Re: Contact directory issue on VVX410/400

Could you clarify if it affects only search results, or also default contact directory layout?

We have 5.3.0 as default sipload for VVX phones, but can try on 5.4.0 (don't see anything related in its release notes other than Global contact directory).

Re: Contact directory issue on VVX410/400

Hello VoIPonaught,

from the admin guide:

  • If 0, contact directory searches are sorted by contact’s last name. If 1, contact directory searches are sorted by first name.

Re: Contact directory issue on VVX410/400

Is there a way to sort all the contacts in the contact directory (not just search results)?

Re: Contact directory issue on VVX410/400

Hello VoIPonaught,

I am not sure I can follow you.

The Factory default of dir.search.field="0" sorts by Last Name:

LastName.png

The suggested change of dir.search.field="1" sorts by First Name:

FirstName.png

This is without searching.

Re: Contact directory issue on VVX410/400

I added :

<dir.local dir.search.field="1" />

and it worked as described.

Thank you!
