We have deployed several phones at one of our sites - IP331, IP450,IP650. This is a cloud solution so the phones talk directly to a boot server etc via the internet. The only thing we provide locally is dns + dhcp. We are having problems with DHCP, the scope is hosted on a local windows 2008 server.

The problem we are having is the phones are either picking up an IP from the data dhcp scope or not at all. If we check the handsets they have picked up the correct voice vlan ID. Is there a scope option in dhcp to push the vlan id to the handsets?

We are using standard switchport config on a cisco switch i.e.

Switchport voice vlan 30

switchport access vlan 50

Hi smm0305

Would it not be easier to build the DHCP scope on the local switch rather than a server?

Just a thought as this would seem a better option....

Cheers

Sorry

another thought is looking at the device.net.cdpEnabled option in the phone config as this will enable the phone to attempt to determine what vlan it is in...

Cheers

The Polycom FAQ contains a detailed post how to set the VLAN options here:

Jul 10, 2013 Question: How can I use VLAN's with Polycom phones?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

If above does not solve the issue please ensure to post the currently used software version.
