We have multiple Polycom VVX 300s set up in our client's office with Presence enabled on all phones.  Is there a way for Presense to display a DND status for either of the monitored lines with either a red light or busy status so that other lines will see when any phone is in the DND state?

Hello  jdphone,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

Please also include if you are using a SIP server or a LYNC / Skype for Business server.

If SIP please specify if you are using Buddy Watch or Busy Lamp Field.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

SIP Server

Using BLF feature

UC Software Version:  5.4.6.4588

For our VVX410 deployments we have done two steps to get a simple DND feature working. It's not a perfect solution but seems to work for most setups.

1) The default DND Softkey wasn't notifying the PBX so to start we disabled that. To disable the default DND Softkey we added to features.cfg file. This also removed the DND Icon from the Menu screen.

<dnd feature.doNotDisturb.enable="0" > </dnd>

2) Then we added a new DND Softkey with some Macro Code to enable DND on the VVX and also to the Asterisk PBX:

$FDoNotDisturb$^*76$Tinvite$

This way the BLF on other phones show the DND status of the extension.

I hope this helps a little in getting you towards a solution.

Update:
Based on here we have updated to using Option 1.

Essentially:

feature.enhancedFeatureKeys.enabled="1"
softkey.feature.doNotDisturb="0"

And:

efk.softkey.alignleft="1"

 This seems to be working better. I hope it helps. Cheers.

Guys,

is there a way to see when someone is on DND from my line Keys, to know if this user is on DND similar to busy status?

Thanks,

Hello @KyleR ,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

Both the community's Must Read First and the community's FAQ reference the basic minimum information a new or follow up post should contain.

This ensures the questions having to be asked are limited and any new or follow up post contains the right amount of details to ensure any voluntary participant within the community does not spend additional time chasing basic information.

As a reminder the basic information asked for:

  • Provide the exact Software Version of your Phone
  • Provide the Phone Model
  • Provide the Call Platform (aka openSIP,Skype for Business Online, Skype for Business on Premise, Lync)
  • Additional Polycom Infrastructure (RPRM,PDMS or BToE)
  • If applicable provide a backup of the phone in question

UC Software 4.0.0 or later via the Web Interface Utilities > Phone Backup & Restore > Phone Backup > Phone Backup. Please rename into .TXT or Zip the file to attach.
Since UC Software 5.9.0 simply provide this via the Web Interface Diagnostics > Download Support Information Package

  • If possible provide a Log and either attach them or use the Code Tag.Consult the Troubleshooting Section found within the FAQ if applicable
  • If possible provide the MAC Address or Serial of the device
  • Provide details for example if the issue is a day 1 issue or only happened after an upgrade or any other relevant details
  • For questions around Support please check here

Whilst providing some of these details may not directly impact any possible answer the community can provide, it does enable Polycom to have an overview of the current software used. In addition providing all details at the same time allow us to check logs or look up a potential support partners if an issue needs to come into support. It also enables us to verify the entitlement for using features.

Please ensure you always check the FAQ's and/or utilize the community search before posting any new topics or follow up post’s.

Stating the above the UC 5.5.0 Admin Guide contains on page 142 an exact description which type of Icons / Call states a BLF / Busy Lamp Field would support.

The other format of Presence / Buddies does support the DND status.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Hello @KyleR ,

Your responce does not contain the minimum information required for anyone to provide an defenitive answer.

We already outlined:

  • Using BLF to monitor users cannot display the DND state
  • Using Buddies / Presence can display the DND state
