Default Directory Search to ENCODE numbers instead of letters

I have Poly vvx250 phones we use with ZOOM. There is a EXTERNAL CONTACTS phone feature populate by importing a CSV file into the ZOOM portal.  It translates to the phones corporate directory.


It works - however to search the corporate directory you have to partially spell the contact name which can get tedious because each letter must be spelled using the dial pad. Example to get the C one has to PRESS the 1 on the dial pad 3 times.


The method is called encoding


On can manually set the encoding to NUMBERS - its a few keys but if I set my directory up with "speed-dial" numbers as part of the contact name it kinda works.


Is there a way to default the coding to numbers on the phone ? Maybe by importing a configuration?
