Hello,

I have being tasked with setting up a large range of Polycom Soundpoint IP 450 handsets running  applicationFW version 4.1.1.0260. These handsets are connected to an AsteriskNOW PBX system and I am able to provision the handsets and make inbound and outbound calls without issues.

However I have also being tasked with trying to create multiple background images for certain groups of phones (e.g. sales have a sales logo and support have a support logo).

I am wondering if it is possible to deploy multiple core templates via Asterisk for the different handset groups (e.g. support template has support background and other settings and sales template has sales background and other settings).

Currently I am able to set-up multiple background images using the web GUI, but with a large number of handsets I am looking for a simple deployment solution via AsteriskNOW.

Hello BrandonR2,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Firstly I can only advise you to check the release notes for any software as the UC Software 4.1.1 is LYNC only as documented in the release notes.

The latest Software for SIP only is UC Software 4.0.8

In regards the customization of separate departments the community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Oct 7, 2011 Question: Can I use substitutions when I provisioning my Phones?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

The above explains how you can use certain strings to make deployments easier. This does not cover for individual departments.

You may want to look at gathering the individual MAC addresses of the phones in question and then utilize / modify some of the scripts shared => here <= or even => here <= utilizing the user login facility.

Another option could be adding individual DHCP Scope reservations based on the department / mapped to a MAC address and providing the Option 160 / 66 DHCP string using different Provisioning Server Users as in a simple example shown => here <

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards
