Hello,

I am trying to use the directory.xml feature listed here: http://community.polycom.com/t5/VoIP/FAQ-How-can-I-create-a-local-directory-or-what-is-the/m-p/8216#...

It did work to get the contacts onto the phones, from the server, but the speed dial feature does not work. I have VVX201 and VVX400 phones, and under 99 contacts in the xml file.

When a user tries to use the speed dial, the phone attendant says, "I'm sorry, that is not a valid extension, please try again."

The phone does not appear to dial the phone number connected to the speed dial, but instead just dials the digit I put in for the speed dial, for example, it's just trying to reach extension "1" instead of dialing "18778881234".  How can I fix this?

Here's a sample of how my XML is formatted:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<!-- $RCSfile$ $Revision: 35928 $ -->
<directory>
      <item_list>
           <item>
                  <ln>DONALD CELL</ln>
                  <fn> </fn>
                  <ct>18778881234</ct>
                  <sd>1</sd>
           </item>

           <item>
                  <ln>DONALD HOME</ln>
                  <fn> </fn>
                  <ct>18771231234</ct>
                  <sd>2</sd>
            </item>

        </item_list>
</directory>

Thank you for your help!

Hello Kevin,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

Please also include if you are using a SIP server or a LYNC / Skype for Business server.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.

The above is also stated in the "Read First"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

In addition how are you dialing them ?

A bit more details or even a video may help

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

We are using a SIP Server.

On the VVX 201's UC Version: 5.4.0.5841

On the VVX 400's UC Version: 4.1.7.1210

Sorry about missing the "Read First" section.

In our example, the user would dial "1" then pick up the handset to call the number.

Is there a specific way we're supposed to do speed dials?

Thank you,

Kevin

Tried dialing 01# and it ended up calling every phone in the network.  I'm unsure if it was a shortcut to answer everyone or just accessed the call group we have created for everyone.

Tried dialing 77# (another assigned speed dial) and it just said the same notice about the extension not existing.

Any ideas?
