[FAQ] Adding a Speed Dial to the Phone

Polycom SoundStation IP, SoundPoint, Polycom Trio, VVX Business Media Phones and VVX Business IP phones have the capability to store speed dials.

A Polycom Trio in Skype for Business mode will not have the Local Contacts enabled. Please use this configration to enable this if required:

<test feature.directory.enabled="1" />

These Speed Dials can also be utilized to Display a Name instead of a Number for an incoming call as explained => here <= in the Incoming Call Identification section.

The above-linked post also explains how a phone can be pre-populated via a Provisioning server using the 000000000000-directory.xml or <mac>-directory.xml

The Number of Speed Dials can be programmed depending on the different phone models.

Phone Maximum File Size Maximum Number of Contacts in File
VVX 101, 150, 201 Not available 99
VVX 3xx series 4MB 500
VVX 4xx series 4MB 500

SoundStructure VoIP Interface Not applicable Not applicable
Polycom Trio 8500 4MB 3000

[FAQ] How to dial a Speed Dial using a 1 or 2 digit code

Old Telephony systems had the ability to simply dial a 1 or 2 digit code if the user remembered this as part of a speed dial.

Poly phones can do this via enabling a favourite index on a Speed Dial:

QuickSpeedDial_02.png

QuickSpeedDial_03.png

The above Speed Dial has an index of 1

Dialling on the phone 1# will display the Number:

Selecting the suggested value lets a user dial this.
