I am utilizing an FTP server to provision our Polycom Trio devices. So far, we are having great success.

However, the root of my folder is getting messy with log files. The log files that are being left here are <mac>-app.log and <mac>-plcmsyslog.tar.gz files.

I also have a "logs" folder, where i get the same type of log file files.

My 000000000000.cfg file includes the line LOG_FILE_DIRECTORY="logs" , as does my <mac>.cfg file.

I have tried this format also:

LOG_FILE_DIRECTORY="ftp://user:password@ftpserver/logs"

I'd really like to have all my logs in a single folder.

Any thoughts that can help?

Thanks!

Hello DerekHamaker,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Read First"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

Usually if you have defined a LOG_FILE_DIRECTORY="/sub_directory_name/"  the phone should upload its <app> logs and the  <mac>-plcmsyslog.tar.gz .

I have this same issue.

I have specified the folder setting for LOG_FILE_DIRECTORY.  However, only [MAC]-app.log and [MAC]-boot.log files are stored there.  The phones attempt to store the [MAC]-plcmsyslog files in the root (home folder) of the FTP user plcmspip.

Why is that?

Hello KeithT,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

The only phone that I am aware uploading a syslog file is the Trio. I suggest opening a support ticket on this.

Hello KeithT and all,

I went and raised this internally for the Trio as I found this myself during some testing.

I got the reply from Engineering that the Trio (and possibly the VVX) for now utilizes the corefile directory. This can be fixed but a workaround for now might be to set COREFILE_DIRECTORY="/logs/".

We are looking into this internally so keep an eye put for future release notes.
