Hi,

Hope someone will throw some light on these firmware related queries.

1. Does a VVX retain the firmware post a factory reset? To be clear, if a VVX500 was shipped with 5.0.2 and has since been upgraded to 5.4.0. What will be the version of its firmware post a factory reset?

2.When using a Provisioning Server (HTTPS/ HTTP based) to upgrade the firmware, will a Polycom device e.g. VVX500, upgrade each time it reboots OR factory resets?

3. Does a VVX500 perform a MD5 checksum when downloading a new firmware from a Provisioning Server? Will it disregard if the current firmware is the same as the new one?

4. Do the SoundPoints and SoundStations exhibit the same behaviour?

Regards

BRM

Hello BRM,

  1. A factory restore will only reset the settings back to factory standard and will not touch the phones software
  2. A phone will check for the software and compare the version. If it is the same it will no download it.
  3. See answer 3
  4. SPIP and SSIP phones work the same way as VVX phones
